How to Export Your Facebook Messenger Chat
Messenger messages are exported using Meta's "Download Your Information" portal, the same tool used for Instagram. Here's how to get just your Messenger data:
- 1Log in to Facebook.com → click your profile picture → Settings & privacy → Settings. Or go directly to facebook.com/dyi.
- 2Click "Your Facebook information" → "Download your information" → then "Some of your information".
- 3Check "Messages" from the list, then click Next → "Download to device".
- 4Set the Format to JSON, choose your date range, and click "Create files". Download the archive once it's ready.
- 5Extract the ZIP, navigate to
messages/inbox/<conversation_name>/, and uploadmessage_1.jsonto ChatPeek.
